Feeding
Plenty of complete poultry feeds are now available and provide a nutritionally balanced diet for your chickens. I feed mine a mixture of Garvo and Fancy Feeds, but this is largely a matter of personal preference. Compared to many pets, chickens are remarkably cheap to feed. Access to grass/greens is also very beneficial.
Chickens also need grit - this is usually available in a large form for poultry, so I tend to purchase finer oyster and flint grit for the bantams. As with the feed, grit is very cheap to purchase and is available from a wide range of suppliers.
Clean, fresh water is also essential for your chickens. While they can drink out of pretty much any container, a poultry-specific drinker is preferable as it's harder to knock over or get dirty.
